GEM Takes Award for Most Promising New Business of the Year!

Friday 3rd November 2023 was a night of glamour and celebration. In the magnificent Magna, Rotherham, a grand event was held to honour the thriving businesses of South Yorkshire. The event, the Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce Awards, saw over 500 esteemed attendees. All were there to celebrate the accomplishments of local businesses that had made their mark in various sectors, and they included our four founding team members, Samantha, Bethany, Nathan and Ryan.
From the moment guests arrived, we were treated to a selection of local ales to kick start the evening. This was followed by a sumptuous three-course dinner before the award ceremony got underway. Adding to the evening's charm was a stunning performance from Kyle Tomlinson, a local lad who shot to fame after receiving the Golden Buzzer from David Walliams on Britain's Got Talent in 2017.
The night was hosted by the charismatic Amy Garcia, a popular newsreader and journalist from BBC Yorkshire's Look North. Amy did an excellent job of keeping the audience engaged and entertained as she announced the winners in various categories.
The First Business Award of the Night
The first award of the evening was the one we were up for, which was for the Most Promising New Business of the Year. The competition was fierce, with four other formidable contenders:
Coven, Barnsley - An inclusive space that combines tattoos, hair styling, and coffee under one roof.
Jiggle - A recruitment agency assisting individuals in finding employment in numerous industries.
NAM Tiny Rockets - A Rotherham-based web development agency that provides fast and efficient website solutions.
Trust Education Ltd - A company specialising in recruitment for the education sector.
With such an impressive line-up, it was anyone's game. However, when Amy announced the winner, there was a moment of stunned silence before our table erupted in cheers. Gala Education & Marketing had won.
Accepting the Award
Our Ryan and Nathan, beaming with pride, made their way to the stage to accept the award. The sense of elation around our table was palpable. Not only had we won, but we had also been recognised for our hard work and dedication in a room filled with respected industry peers.
Speaking about the win, Ryan, our head brain, expressed his surprise and delight. "I'm shocked and delighted. We went into this event thinking that it was just nice to be acknowledged. There were some strong contenders in this category, which shows the strength of Northern business right now. When Amy said our name, it sparked absolute mayhem around our table and on the next table where our colleagues from Gala Technology were seated. I didn't know how much I wanted to win this award until we won it. It's dedicated to everybody that believed in us on our short journey so far. I'm super-proud of my whole team."
